Color chart question
Hello,
I am re-reading the archived posts and the instruction booklet to try to make sense of it before casting on and it dawned on me that the colors on the very top don't go well with my skin color and think the colors in chart 1 would look better near my face.
Has anyone made this with the color charts reversed - chart 3 first? Is there an obvious reason why the charts could not be reversed?

It seems that the designer planned the color palette to go from dark at the bottom and slowly changing to the lightest colors at the top and intended to use up all of the colors in the collection. I know that Bess changed her colors up at the top to compliment her complexion and I don't really see any reason why you couldn't switch the colors around any way you WANT. Of course you might want to think about it and stand back a little to see how it would look to move the charts around. It's all going to look good, I think, and you should do whatever works for you. If there was a color combo I really disliked I'd probably repeat a different one I like more and leave the offensive one out completely! It's your sweater. :)

Laura,
Thanks for advise. I am going to take another look at Bess' photos.
This is a beautiful sweater and I don't want to take any of the beauty away.

Howdy
I changed the colors in two ways. First off, I added a brown ribbed cuff with a red and yellow stripe and used the brown, yellow, black and red for a garter stitch button band too.
Also, the pale pink/baby blue checkerboard right near the very top was a dreadful choice for me so I switched to the medium pink and yellow which created a sort of warm peach glow on that one band.
I didn't change the pattern sequences though and kept to the original concept of the designer, to go with dark colors at the bottom and lighter ones at the top. Just, my idea of pale is not as pale as someone elses.
I'm completely satisfied with the choices I made and the colors are much more flattering to my face.
If you want to make changes, go for it, the pattern is very adaptable.
