My husband used to think it was funny when I would wake up in the morning and say to him "I love you this morning."
It was very "right now" to me. Not that I don't love him every minute of every day, but it seemed like a way to say "Good Morning" and "I love you" at the same time.
Something strange and interesting and really cool happened to me a few days ago. I received an email from someone who just moved to my little rural Kansas town and was looking for a friend. She looked up the area knitting groups and found one in Wichita that I am listed with. My actual location and email address were part of my profile information so that's how she ended up emailing me. We exchanged a few emails and decided to get together. I did the same kind of searching when I got here but obviously I didn't find anyone because she wasn't here yet!
Last Thursday morning she came over and brought her knitting! We visited for a good while, enjoyed watching Emeline play, and got to know each other. And you won't believe this (or at least I didn't), she brought along her sock knitting!! This was her first sock and she was figuring out the "pick up stitches along the heel flap" idea. I shared my limited knowledge and experience with her. We simply had a great time so she's coming back again this morning.
This sounds so silly but I'm so SO excited to have a friend nearby!! I haven't gotten to know anyone in our town yet. With all the baby hustle and bustle, kids in Texas issues, etc, I haven't started going to church yet. I went once to a play group but haven't been back for a variety of reasons (I haven't even mentioned our vehicle issues on the blog but we're down to only one car due to an incident with a deer after dark). I'm just happy, excited, and trying to keep it all under control or I'll frighten the poor woman away. heh
So I have a friend today. And she's coming over to bring her knitting this morning and visit again. I'm very happy about this. :)
In other things: Hobby Lobby is having a 1/2 price sale on all of their knit crochet and quilt supplies so if your local HL stocks their knitting needles well, this is the time to get them! They also have their patterns 1/2 price. We went to HL last night and I got what I could but my HL doesn't keep this stuff very well stocked so I didn't get much. It's sad when I can't even find a single pattern book that I'd like to pay 1/2 price for. I did, however, pick up a skein of LB Homespun that I need for Katie's sweater and also some chenille for face cloths.
I'm still knitting away on the Jaywalker - virtually no knitting happened yesterday. Hopefully I'll be attacking the first heel by tonight. SO FAR these socks seem to be fitting me nicely. I know the moment of truth will be in the heel so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If they fit me they'll fit Katie because (poor dear) her foot is still a tiny bit smaller than my gigantic one.
All of my blogging and internet friends - Have a wonderful day!
P.S. Sockapaloooza starts tomorrow!! Yippee!!!
