Entrelac Scarf

When I started actively knitting three years ago I was exposed to a new world of yarns via the internet.  A popular yarns at time time, and one that seems timeless, was Noro Silk Garden.  I dreamed of the day that my stash included Silk Garden.  About a year later someone gifted me with four skeins of Silk Garden in two different yet reasonably coordinating colorways.  The hunt was on for a pattern - I had no idea what to do with this yarn but I wanted to use every last inch of it that I possibly could.... for me me ME!  An internet search quickly revealed that Silk Garden is very well suited for the entrelac stitch pattern.  Another search gave me several free patterns for entrelac.  I made the scarf shown above and over time combined the various patterns I found into my own version of the entrelac scarf pattern.  I have begun teaching an entrelac class and am using this pattern with my students.  They seem to like it - I hope you find it helpful if you're wishing to learn entrelac and make a scarf of your own!

The pattern is a four page pdf.

Yarn:  four skeins Silk Garden or other worsted weight yarn
Needles:  US8-10 (I recommend US8 10" bamboo or wood straight needles)
Finished Size:  Approx 12" wide and 50" long after blocking.

Note on Blocking:  With both yarns I've used (Silk Garden and Patons SWS) the entrelac fabric was very sculptured before blocking and was basically FLAT after blocking.  If you want to retain the dramatically sculptured wavy woven look, don't wash!
