GROUP HUG FOR GREENSBURG
A free crochet pattern that creates
an 8" square with a Center Ring Motif
resembling a Celtic Knot.
When my friend Sonia learned that I was collecting afghan squares for Greensburg she donated a crochet square that she made quite some time ago, which I featured on my blog May 18, 2007.
The rings in the center of this crochet block remind me so much of a group hug that I decided to write a pattern for it (I have no information at all about the original pattern). Thanks to generous crocheters around the world, many of the afghans sent to Greensburg for the Rebuilding Greensburg - Block by Block project included one of these squares.
Pattern Notes: When looping rings together for Center Ring Motif look closely at photo as your guide if you would like the rings to have a woven Celtic Knot look. Round 1 is worked in the back loops of the Center Ring Motif. The remainder of the square is worked in both loops. The entire block is worked one-sided. You do not turn your work on each round.
